It's an hour later there and so I get in around 10, and there she is waiting for me!! Yay
We were both so excited and she welcomed me with some water and a bar of chocolate :)
It was so good, if felt like we had just seen each other the other day instead of the year it has been. She lives about half an hour away so we just chatted the whole time. When we got home her pare to we're waiting up to greet us and talk! So we had some wine and hummus and breadsticks! It was soo funny every time they would talk to each other in Dutch or German or Flemish or French.... It just made me smile....I had no idea what they were saying but it sounded soo cool!!
Friday: We got up and just kinda hung out..had breakfast and chilled. Then we got ready and headed into Brussels...which is the capital for all of Europe..which I didn't realize! Public transport was soo dirt cheap compared to Ireland.. Which made me happy! First thing we did was go to into town and see the Kings working palace...which he was in cause the flag was raised! Woo when we were walking by one of the guards was doing his weirdo stiff walking thing and I have never seen that and I thought it was the funniest thing.
From there we walked down this cute little street know as the music district. It has lots of little parks and a music school and museum and junk. We walked down one street and there was about 7 chocolate shops in a row...time to start trying em lol
In this area we only went into one but Kiki picked out some. Of course they were so so good! Melt in your mouth..yumminess!!
After that we went up to the palace of justice...which is just a ginormous, gaudy courthouse built to intimidate and scare other countries lol and it was HUGE!! It was so funny cause all the lawyers walking around wore robs and weird little white dickie things. But it was defiantly amazing.
From where this was you had a pretty good view of all of Brussels. I didn't realize it was in a little valley and very hilly! From here we just walked around quite a bit and got into some of the touristy areas. There was a lot of old buildings and cool apartments and stuff.
There's lot of statutes which I love!
After that we went back home and got ready for meeting. It worked out in my favor cause Kiki and her family are in the English (forgein language group) so I knew what was going on. Their hall was in the middle,of the city and like down this weird ally. It was soo funny though cause a few brothers said crazy things but its just cause the translation is different lol. The other really funny thing was that on about every 3rd seat they had lil CV radios and that's what ou use for answering...I couldn't get over how silly it was.
After that we did a little drive trough of the city soo I could see all the old buildings all lit up!
Saturday: This morning Kiki made me a so so delicious Belgium hot chocolate and some corssoints for breakfast...oh my goodness gracious!! Sooo delish!! Then we when Kalki (an Ethiopian girl who lives with them) got there we headed to Bruge. It's about an hour and half drive and it was just poaring the whole way..but we were hopeful!! When we got there is was it wasn't raining whew...now Bruge is considered the Venice of the north and also belguims chocolate capital.
And It was sooo beautiful!!
I was soo glad we had a third person...so she could take our pictures...also I loved that they were totally up for silly pictures as well.
It was a really fun day!
That night we just stayed in an watched a movie with her family!
Sunday: we got up and I got all my stuff together. I was sad I was leaving so soon already! But before we went to the airport Kiki wanted to show me this big park where the Kings summer palace was...it was just in the next township over. So we headed there. It was a huge park with lakes and ponds and just wide open spaces and lots of forest area where ppl were jogging and junk.
I felt like a princess in front of the palace with an animal...maybe like Snow White! Lol
I wanted to go in and run around. But we couldn't :(
After that we headed off to the airport. It was sad to leave a friend and go back to a country I don't like but it was ok cause I'm planning on coming back when I'm traveling around or we will always see each other down in Australia....just like old times hehe
The rest of the week has been super busy and good....the kids are fine... I'm starting to get sad ill miss the boys but oh we'll what can ya do. We went shopping at the outlet mall and I got a Starbucks and gues what they spelt my name right...I was soooo excited lol
