Night out!!

So this week was fun!

The girls were being good and I was just having a good week.

On Tuesday I went to the movies….right before I left Pip was all “Watch out for the Possums!!”

So when I was on the way to the theater, and I was around the attack spot I was all looking around and then I heard something and I was like NO it cant be! Lol So I looked up and right above me on the telephone wire is a possum!! It wasn’t a very big one but it was RIGHT THERE..right above me!!! But I felt like it couldn’t really attack being on the wire so I took a picture of it….when I looked at the picture there was 4 eyes all staring at me and I was thinking what the heck…so I took another and then I stood there for a few min just trying to look at it because obviously it had a baby on its back but you couldn’t see it at all!! It was so weird.

I went and saw Footloose…..

　

it was sooo good!! It was way better then I was expecting for a remake!! I ♥ the original and so I was worried it would totally ruin it, but it didn’t! It was a bit cheesy because they used a lot of the same lines, but then the original was cheesy so its to be expected! I thought that it was cool how they brought the modern twist to it too. I was sooo embarrassed when he does his solo dance out of anger…that was sooo funny!! I also thought that Willard wasn’t country enough…in the original he is hard core country boy!! But anyway those are my thought on the movie! But it was good! J

　

Next few days nothing really to exciting going on… the girls went back to school so I had all Wed to myself, so I went shopping!! When I went to go get the girls I went a few min early because right next to their school is a Rose Garden and all the roses are starting to bloom!! Its sooo pretty I love it!! There is probably a couple thousand rose bushes and its kept up to perfection!!

　

　

Then Friday night…was my night out in the city!! We were meeting downtown around 9ish, so around 8ish I got on the bus and headed to the city. It was sooo weird about half way there we stopped and these police/patrol guys get on and check everyone tickets and see if there was any alcohol. I was like “Whew good thing I kept my ticket.” Finally I got to where I was supposed to be and met up with the girls. We were going to Oh’Malleys…..it’s an Irish pub. So we had like a 10 min walk there and of course it starts down poaring….it sucked. Most of the side walks had overhangs but still…we got wet lol So we stayed in there for awhile and its sooo funny…Australian guys like to dance…which is a good thing but they just dance all crazy and everywhere!! It is sooo AWESOME!! It cracks me up!! After that we went to SOHO which is a dance club…when we got in it was soooo packed that you couldn’t even walk anywhere without squeezing through people…so we walked through and went to the toilets and then decided to leave lol it was just to many people!! After that we went to this place right next to it called Kingscross Hotel….it’s an old hotel turned into a lounge/pub and so there is a bar right when you walk in and they had some live music..but you could go to the basement or up at least 3 floors and there was like a different theme on each floor. We ended up going to the basement and it was 80’s theme. So we stayed they awhile just talking and laughing at people. By this time it was about 2:30 am and we had to head back to the bus station because the last bus to our area left at 3am. So we get there and the girls had to take another bus because they live in another area, so I was just waiting for my bus and hoping I was at the right place!! After awhile these two guys come running from out of nowhere and yell to me..”Was that the bus to Cerrybrook?” and I was watching all the busses, so I knew the one pulling out WAS the one to Cherrybrook lol So I was like , “Yep..you missed it” then all the sudden he just looks at me…and then to his friend..then to me..and he says, “Your American?” and I look at him and say, “Your American?” It was sooo weird because you never hear anyone with an American accent so I think it threw us all for a loop. It was so random, because come to find out they are from Seattle!! Out of all the places in the US they could have been from. So while I waited we talked about all the weird things Australians do or the different words they use. It was nice talking to some people that get where im coming from. Lol So then FINALLY the bus gets there and is totally crammed pack. Since im a girl some nice guy gave me his seat..which was really nice cause that would been annoying to stand the whole way. So of course me I have to have some weird person talk to me the whole way…which I didn’t mind…nice enough guy. He had a wife and kids and he was a bar tender on his way home from work yadda yadda you get to know a lot about someone in an hours time lol So I am just starring out the window, hoping I don’t miss my stop..but everything looked soooo different at night. Then the guy was all, “this is my stop..have a nice night” I looked out the window and recognized where I was and it was my stop too!! I was all , “WAIT…where are we” lol and a couple people answered me lol so I got off and then I had to walk home. So by the time I got home It was like 4:30am and I had told the lady across the street that I would baby sit for her at 9 am.

So Saturday at 8:45 I pull myself out of bed after 4hours of sleep and throw my hair up into a pony and head over to her house. The kids were super easy they just kinda played and sat around…I gave them some lunch and that was about it. I didn’t feel tired, but I knew I looked it. So when I came home Alex (Adams cousin) was there and as soon as he saw me he said, “You look like a zombie!! Is that still last nights make up?? Ewww you didn’t take a shower!!” All I could so was laugh. The rest of the day I just hung around the house…Adam and Alex were painting and so I was their entertainment I think…they sat there and asked me the stupidest questions ever and then I showed them some of my funny you tube videos and the girls gave me a make over!! It ended up being a fun day!

On Sunday I was supposed to Skype with Bry , because everyone was coming over to go to a concert so we all thought it would be fun to skype together. We never seemed to get on at the same time, and it didn’t work out..I was sad L But it wasn’t their fault it was the dumb time difference! Then I went to meeting, and after I went to the mall and went shopping some more!! it’s a problem I have lol Adam had some work conference he had to go to on Sunday and Monday so it was just Pip and me and so we got to watch our dumb girly shows, it was fun. She is really opening up to me…its probably because I don’t shut up or stop asking questions lol

Today, Pip stayed home from work…even though she only has 9 more days of work til she’s off! But she just stays in her room and sleeps most the day lol I took the girls to the park for another play date. Turned out to be a really nice day! I cant wait until its pool weather!!!

　

Some interesting things from this week :

I’ve decided even more then before that my severe hatred for birds is still there and is getting heightened.

Australia has WAY to many Ants…big ones too!

Most Australian girls are snobs…confirmed by the US guys I met! Lol

They are just as fascinated with our accent as we are with theirs.

People have the weirdest fashion sense here!

Possum Attack!!

This week i was a bit traumatised!!

On Tuesday i went to the Cinema, Tuesdays are cheap nights..so i plan on going every Tuesday!!

I went to the late showing and so by the time i was walking home it was about 11:30pm.

I was almost home and on the last bit of road when all the sudden i heard this growling hissing noise.

I stopped and looked around like, "What the heck was that?? I am gonna get eaten!!"

Then all the sudden about 2 to 3ft away a bush started rustling...then before i knew it 5 HUGE possums were coming out at me! Good thing it was late and there was no cars cause i went running to the middle of the road while screaming bloody murder!!  I am surprised that someone didn't come out of there house to see what was going on. Well 3 of them chased me across the street and then 2 of them stayed in front of the bush. Then once they were across they went up a telephone pole. I was sooo freaked out!!!I was just yelling at them, but once i realized they were on the pole and not really moving i got my camera out and took a picture!! Just for proof!!

After that i pretty much ran home...or i would of made myself hear more crazy possums.
Its so funny cause everyone i have told about it, they said, "Im sure you can ask every Australian and that has never happen to them" .......great its just me...i attract the weirdos and the possums! lol

Then Wednesday at meeting i saw Alyce and she had gotten her hair cut, and i couldn't remember if she had bangs or not so i asked her.."Did you get your bangs cut?"  She looked at me with the blankest stare i have ever seen. Then she was all, "My what??"  I was like, "Your bangs......you know your bangs" and i reached over and touched her forehead.  She still was soooo confused. Then i asked again, "Did you get them cut??" and then a light bulb came on...she was like "OHHHHH...you mean my fringe!" I started laughing sooo hard. Fringe..thats doesn't make sense. Then she started making fun of bangs. It was just really funny, it totally threw me off!

Thursday... we were getting a solar water heater thing installed soo there was a bunch of guys everywhere. They started at like 7am so i heard Adam telling the guys, "The nanny will be here all day..but shes asleep right now" They were talking right in front of my door..a bit awkward i thought, like they were waiting for me to wake up or something.
Then finally when i got up i looked like a complete hot mess.
So i just stayed in the playroom with the girls and there was a guy working in the Bathroom..that wouldnt shut up. Just kept talking and talking to me.  He was nice..i dont know how much work he really got done though.

Friday i had planned to take the girls to see Lion King, since they have never seen it and it was in 3D.
So we went up the the Towers and i got the girls Maccas (aka McDonalds) and then went to the movie. I have never seen them sit soo still and for the WHOLE movie. It went alot better then i expected.
Then later that night...i got a txt from Rachel and she said there was some going to dinner. We went to some famous garlic chicken place and it was in this ghetto neighborhood, and had like the train right next to it all loud and thugs driving around. The whole atmosphere was like out of a movie. So we had dinner and then we went to another part of town for dessert. They were trying to explain to me the place we were going and they kept saying, "you know those long fried Mexican desserts?" I had no clue what they were meaning, until we got there and it was a Churro place lol
That place was too packed and we didn't want to wait so we went to a cafe a few doors down!
The cafe was very artsy and it this big lounge thing upstairs and it was cool....so we sat around for awhile..then we all ordered drinks....i don't know if its an Australian thing or they are all just boring but we just sat there...there was a few conversations with the person next to you but everyone is totally ok with not talking and sitting there. Sooo weird! So i was bored out of my mind.

Then Saturday...was skype day! I skyped with so many different people...i was on the computer for like 5 or 6 hours!!  It was fun!  Then that after noon...huge dark clouds came in and thats when the storm started.
It was the biggest..loudest..craziest thunder storm i have witnessed.
The storm was right over us too..it would be a flash of lightning and then BAM...huge thunder right there.
The first thunder that happened i thought it was a gun shot. It was soo piercing.
I kept saying, "Its the thunda from down unda."
But it was intense!!
That night i met up with the girls and went and saw a movie!

Sunday i went to the meeting and then over to Sean and Elise's. They had all the young one from the hall over. WE had dinner and played some games. We played Pictionary...boys against girls!  Girls won!!

Today not much happening....we met up with another Au Pair at the park and the kids played for hours.
After work, i went for a walk...trying to get my bootay back in shape for summer!! We will see how long this will last! lol

Starbucks

Same ol stuff this we as every other week..though i was "supposed" to be in CA. My Aunt Sue got married and we had been talking about flying me in and surprising everyone..but it didn't work out. :( 

That's what i think brought on the homesickness....not to bad it was just a little lol but the fact that all my family was together and i wasn't..upset me, just because i never miss that kind of stuff! Im always around lol

         This week i was also planning to go with a few families in the hall to do some seldom work territory...but that also didnt work out.  But it was fine..no biggy!

On Wednesday....the girls were home because its school holidays. The school system is really weird here....they go 10 weeks and then 2 weeks off....all year round. So this last week and this coming up week the girls will be home.

               So on Thursday we got central air put into the house...thank goodness!  Its so freezing in the house...its actually way nicer outside!  But with the air we have heat at night and this summer we will have air con (that's what they call it here). Anyway...so all Thursday there was guys in and out of the house all day long. The girls and me made some cookies and gave them to the guys...they liked that!! :)

        Friday night Adam asked if i wanted to go out to dinner with the family and since everyone was out of town i agreed! So we ended up going to a little Italian restaurant and it was nice but lets just say...they dont take the girls out very often and i know why!! It was just a little place and the girls were all loud and talking about poo poo and it was just funny.  So after that we went home and watched..Far and Away!!  I love that movie!!
             Saturday i was gonna go in service but something happened about picking me up and that didnt work out so i just stayed home...witch was good because i got to Skype with Hannah..it was much needed on my part, it seems like i haven't been skyping ppl as often as i used to but anyway we talked for about 2 hours. I loved it!! Its just like if i was still there! After that i finally got out of bed and then went to the mall and shopped..i am such an obsessive shopper..i am gonna need to buy an extra suitcase when i go home lol then we went and saw Crazy Stupid Love...witch just came out this Friday! lol its been out for like 2 months in the states.  It was sooo good i loved it!! And Ryan Gosling..is a hottie!!! After that Kerry had asked me if i could come over for a bit  to watch the kids. Her husband is out of town for 2 weeks so her parents are flying in so i stayed with the sleeping kids while she went to go get them from the airport. Easy money!  They live just a few blocks over so it was no big deal!

Sunday..Rain again! :(   all day just raining!

Today was Labor Day so i got it off! :) I didnt know what todo...but i knew i wanted some coffee and some good coffee so i decided to venture into the city and find one of the 7 Starbucks that are in the greater Sydney area. So even though i was a bit nervous about taking the bus i got on! Not that im scared to go on the bus..or even the fact if i get off at the wrong place..because i have no problem asking random people, but its the fact that i dont have the slightest clue of where i am headed. Some one might say " Go to George st..." or "head towards Parrematta"...do i know where that is...NO hahahh So on my way into the city it was quite fun watching all the weirdo people come on and off the bus.....and i also remembered there was a huge Fiesta going on down at Darling Harbour this weekend. So when we coming into Sydney we went across the Harbour Bridge and there to my right was the Opera House and then straight forward was CITY!

After a few min i saw a Starbucks straight ahead i was sooo excited...so i hit the stop button..and got off!! Then i crossed the street only to find out...it was closed!! What the heck?? So then i was back on my mission.  I walked down a few streets and then headed toward the Harbour/The Rocks area and there across the bay was the Opera house and i had a girl take picture of me in front of it but she was like Russian or something and it was horrible you cant see the Opera house at all...whatev  So then i started walking back into the city to head to Darling Harbour..witch was on the other side...so i just walking along..going to shops..got some lunch!! It reminded me soooooooo much of New York city...minus the bright lights lol But all the shops and all the people and all the tourist and everything it was awesome i loved it!! I went to some park (reminded me of Central Park) and there was people having picnics, and life size chess competitions, and weirdo Asian guys doing Ti Chi, and there was an art show! It was just really cool!

After that i decided to find my way to Darling Harbour and see what this Fiesta was all about. It took me about 10 to find it after i asked someone in what general direction it was from me lol There was a million and ten people just everywhere and different activity going on all around the water. I finally got down to the wharf and right in front of me was a HUGE Starbucks!! YAY  i found it....something i recognized from home!

So i went in and ordered me a Venti White Chocolate Carmel Mocha Iced! Mmmmm...

At first the lady just looked at me...like "What?"

So then i had to explain it to her slowly...but the person who was making the drinks had no problem!!

I was so happy!

I finally had yummy tasting coffee!  Not that the coffee they have here is gross its just different and they defiantly don't put flavors in them, most the places don't even have flavors.Anyway it was good!

So i walked around and there was different street performers and then there was set stages that had professional "Dancers" and "Mariachis Bands."

The first thing i came across what a few guys doing break-dancing....it was sooo funny people were in awe! I mean it was pretty cool the stuff they were doing but i think break-dancing has just reached Australia..they acted as if they have never seen anything like it before..like its the new craze!! lol

It was also so funny to see how into the Salsa dancing everyone was..hundreds or even thousands of people were just soo taken in by the salsa dancing...i could care less! But then remember i think i have seen 1 maybe 2 Mexican people...so its totally foreign to them.

So i continued to walk around, until i saw this really rugged guy..kinda dirty..dreadlocks...with a tiny microphone and he was setting up something and there was a group of people starting to form so i stopped to see what was going on. He was really funny and while he set up he was making fun of people walking by. Before you know it there was tons of people around waiting to see what he really was gonna do. So he starts by talking to different people in the audience trying to get them excited. But he kept dumb things to me...not talking to me but doing things like...pretended to back up to far til he almost stepped on me...then he said something about the red head over there...and then he made some other dumb joke about me...and of course every time he talked about me everyone looked at me and started laughing.

So then he started doing some dumb juggling tricks and then he said he needed a volunteer...and who does he pick????

Me...im just like mom..the weirdo people always like us!!  So he makes me go out in the circle and ask me my name and then when he realizes I'm American..that sets him off on a whole other page of jokes.  So what he wants me to do is throw a burning baton at him. So i do and it was all good...right before i turned to walk away he kissed me on the cheek....EW...i must have made the nastiest face because he got all offended and made some joke about it! It was funny!

After that i walked around a little while longer..but then it started getting windy and cold so i headed back to the bus! It was a fun Monday in the City!
